Supergrip is a single component water based gap filling, high strength, adhesive with low odour properties.
Quick and permanent fixing of a wide range of commonly used building and decorative elements. For bonding the following:
Preparation
Surfaces must be dry, clean and sound, free of any grease, oil and loose, flaky or weak material. This can be achieved by wire brushing if necessary.
In the case of rendered or plastered surfaces no efflorescence should be evident.
Priming
Under normal circumstances this is not required. However, for porous, fibrous or very dusty surfaces it is recommended that a diluted solution of BCR PVA Bonding Compound diluted 1 volume to 2 volumes of water be applied and allowed to dry prior to the use of Supergrip.
Placement
Cut the plastic nozzle to the size of the bead required. Insert the cartridge into the gun. Extrude a continuous bead of approximately 3 mm to 6 mm diameter onto the fixture being bonded. The actual bead size will depend on fixture and substrate. Under normal circumstances the bead should not be applied to the substrate. However, under certain conditions, for example when a fixture is applied to a timber framed backing, the application of adhesive to the substrate can allow adjustment. Apply the fixture to the substrate as described below. Clean off any surplus adhesive.
Wallboards
When fixing wallboards to battens, these should be fixed vertically at 400mm centres with horizontal battens top and bottom. Adhesive beads should be applied to the back of the board in positions corresponding to the positions of the battens Alternatively, the adhesive may be applied to the battens and the wallboards pressed firmly into place immediately. When boards are warped or the wall surfaces are uneven apply Supergrip as already described and then firmly press to the wall surface or battens - pull the board away immediately. Check that some adhesive has been transferred from the board to the substrate in all cases - if not apply extra adhesive and repeat. Then press back into position and temporarily support if necessary.
Battens
Apply the adhesive to the batten or to the wall. Press into position - if necessary temporarily support.
Skirtings and Architraves
For wider timber members, such as skirtings and architraves, apply parallel beads to the reverse side, approximately 25 mm in from the outer edges. As appropriate, fix either directly or by the partial transfer method.
