BCR Acrylic Sealant is a single component Acrylic Sealant and Filler supplied in cartridge form for gun application.
The nipple on the end of the cartridge should be cut and the supplied nozzle screwed onto the nipple. The nozzle is then cut to the desired width for the application in hand.
The sealant has excellent adhesion properties but to achieve the desired results ensure that all surfaces are free from contaminants and that they are dry. No primer is required on surfaces which are sound. (wood, aluminium, ceramics, glass, glazed tiles.) On porous substrates adhesion can be improved by priming using BCR Acrylic Sealant diluted 1:2 in water.
As a sealant
If the depth of the joint to be filled is greater than that recommended then it should be partially filled with BCR Sealrod.
It may be beneficial to mask the adjoining area to avoid contamination.
Using a skeleton gun the sealant should be forced firmly into the joint and against the sides taking care to avoid entrapment of air.
After application the sealant can be tooled to release any air and to ensure good contact with the substrates by using a rounded tool moistened with water. Remove any masking tape immediately after profiling.
If used externally BCR Acrylic Sealant must be protected from rain until full cure has taken place.
Under good conditions the sealant can accommodate movement of up to +-7.5% of the joint width provided that the following recommendations are adhered to.
Minimum depth & width of sealant 3 mm. For width in excess of 6 mm The depth should be half that of the width.
As a filler
Extrude the BCR Acrylic Sealant directly into the gap or crack, smooth and compress using a pallet knife or similar smooth bladed tool moistened with water.
Clean tools as soon as possible using soap and water.
310 ml cartridge will provide 3.1 linear metres of a 10 mm x 10 mm joint.
